Dr. Matin has been a full professor in Stanford Medical School for several years and is affiliated with several programs, including the Stanford Cancer Research Institute; he elected to become emeritus, July 1, ‘21. His research contributions are numerous, including discovery of new drugs, therapeutic enzymes, and their improvement as well as their specific targeting to cancer (and other diseases). He did his Ph. D. at UCLA, spent some years in the Netherlands (State University of Groningen), where he directed a research group, before joining Stanford. He is recipient of numerous awards and honors.
Vitoria Valente Gemas has a Msc in Engineering from the University of Lisbon and a PhD in Biotechnology. Her professional career began in the academic area, working as a Molecular Biologist for 8 years at the Institute of Technological Chemistry and Biology (ITQB) of the New University of Lisbon (UNL).
Medical advisor and leader she has an extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry (15 years), mainly linked to Medical Affairs. She worked in Novartis, LEO Pharma, Daiichi Sankyo and Sanofi in areas as diverse as haemato-oncology, immunology & vaccines for the prevention of infectious diseases and cardiovascular pathology. Excellent trainer and educator, with a background in implementing Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs, disseminating data, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
