Dr. Sheeba Armoogum is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the University of Mauritius (UoM). She holds a PhD in Cybersecurity from the University of Technology, Mauritius and also holds an International Patent in Cybersecurity, a method ascribed to the Intrusion Detection and Prevention System from the South African Patent Office. The patent is classified under the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Inventor Class H04L. This year 2023, in recognition of her tenacity, innovative contribution and inspirational qualities, she is awarded the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (GlobalWIIN) Special Recognition Award 2023 for her patented work on the novel extended genetic algorithmic method of Intrusion Detection and Prevention System inspired by Charles Darwin’s theory of natural evolution. She is also a recipient of the Women Icon Nobel Researcher of the Year 2023, Women Icon Outstanding Academician Award 2022 and Asia’s Innovative Award in Cybersecurity 2022. Dr. Sheeba participated as a Keynote speaker/Invited Speaker/Main Speaker in numerous national and international seminars, conferences and forums organised by the University of KwaZulu Natal South Africa, Erasmus+ in Poland, 67th United Nation Commission on the Status of Women NGO Forum Australia among others. She has participated as a Cybersecurity expert in voluntary work for the International Cybersecurity Challenge hosted by the European Union Agency for Cyber Security (ENISA) dedicated to mentoring and training participants from Mauritius. She is the founder of the CyberSecurity & Forensics Research Group at the University of Mauritius. Currently, she heads the research group and missioned herself to achieve the vision to produce exclusive and significant research output and make a substantial contribution to Mauritius's readiness and response to Cybersecurity risks and threats. Currently, her research interest focuses on Cybersecurity, Cyber Forensics, Cyberpsychology, Brain-Computer Interface (BCI), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Wireless and Mobile Networking. She has authored numerous publications in reputed journals and conferences.
