Abstract

The connection between autism and aromatherapy is an emerging area of research that shows promise for enhancing therapeutic practices. Aromatherapy utilizes essential oils known for their healing properties and is gaining recognition for its effectiveness in promoting relaxation and emotional well-being. Recent studies indicate that specific essential oils might positively affect behaviors linked to autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This holistic approach is gaining popularity as a complementary therapy for individuals on the autism spectrum, providing a range of emotional benefits that can improve overall wellness. Incorporating aromatherapy into daily routines may help individuals with autism reduce stress and anxiety, which can lead to better social interactions and communication. The sensory characteristics of essential oils can act as a bridge to connect with emotions, fostering a deeper understanding of personal feelings and reactions. This relationship is especially advantageous as it promotes self-regulation and emotional awareness—key skills for managing everyday life. Additionally, the flexibility of aromatherapy allows it to be customized to fit each individual’s unique sensory profile. Whether through diffusers, topical applications, or inhalation, the delivery method can be adjusted to accommodate personal preferences and sensitivities, ensuring a pleasant experience. This adaptability not only enhances therapeutic outcomes but also empowers individuals to actively participate in their emotional care. As this field develops, cooperation among researchers, therapists, and families will be crucial in realizing the full potential of aromatherapy in autism care. By exchanging insights and experiences, the community can establish best practices that maximize the advantages of this natural therapy. Ultimately, incorporating aromatherapy into treatment plans offers a compassionate approach that honors the individuality of each person on the autism spectrum, aiming to enhance quality of life through gentle, sensory-driven interventions. Aromatherapy is recognized for its calming, soothing, and supportive effects, particularly in addressing behavioral sensitivity, as it interacts with the limbic system. It also helps create a sensory environment conducive to emotional regulation by integrating pleasant yet therapeutically beneficial aromas into daily life or therapeutic settings. This practice not only addresses immediate emotional needs but also fosters long-term emotional stability. With increasing awareness of the benefits of aromatherapy for individuals on the spectrum, it is vital to weave it into comprehensive treatment strategies. Many families have reported positive experiences when adding aromatic remedies to their care practices, making aromatherapy an attractive option for bolstering emotional resilience in those with autism. Innovative ways of integrating aromatherapy into daily activities are being explored by families and therapists alike, often combining it with other sensory therapies to promote a holistic approach to well-being. Essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood - but not only these oils - are commonly selected for their calming properties, while citrus oils like bergamot and sweet orange can invigorate and energize, we must remember that there is much more to Aromatherapy than calming and relaxing . This personalized method allows caregivers to customize the aromatic experience to meet the unique needs and preferences of the individual, creating a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. In educational environments, diffusing essential oils in classrooms or therapy spaces has shown promising effects in enhancing focus, alleviating anxiety, and fostering a sense of calm among students with autism. Furthermore, using personal inhalers or aromatic massage provides individuals with a portable and discreet means to address stress and emotional challenges throughout the day. As research continues to explore the complex relationships between scent and emotion, the potential for aromatherapy to significantly impact the lives of those with autism becomes increasingly evident. By embracing this natural and gentle approach, we pave the way for new opportunities to cultivate connection, understanding, and tranquility within the autism community.

Plenary Speaker

Prof. Shozo Yanagida

Emeritus Professor of Osaka University

Abstract

The quantum chemical molecular modeling software Spartan [1], incorporating the Q-Chem computational code, has shed light on the molecular reactions and associated events in mitochondria (mt), the cellular engines:
(1) In the chemical reaction in mt l membranes, hydrated singlet oxygen (1O2(H2O2) reacts with glucose (C6H12O6) to produce a hydrated suoerixide anion radical [O2 -*(H2O) 2]. (2) Because [O2 -*(H2O) 2] is stable and has a high electron potential, it provides a biopotential to the mitochondrial endoplasmic reticulum, which has a lipid bilayer structure.
(3) The biopotential induces a capacitive current (bioalternating current electricity) and generates a capacitive current (alternating current).
(4) Capacitive current simulatneously induces the generation of microwaves and radio waves from mitochondria.
(5) Microwave and radio waves are converted into heat through thermo-upconversion, smoothly promoting the thermochemical reactions of cells' metabolism (similar to heating water systems using a microwave oven) [3].
(6) As we age, [O2 -*(H2O)2] becomes hydrogen peroxide, which will be reduced by [O2 - *(H2O)2], giving hydrated hydroxyl radicals [HO*(H2O) 2].
(7) [HO*(H2O)2] reactss hydrogen atoms of the mitochondrial lipid membraine, destroying the arrangement structure of the lipid bilayer membrane, causing the mitochondrial endoplasmic reticulum to swell.
(8) There are an average of 1,000 mt in a human cell, so their enlargement is accompanied by enlargement of the cell itself. At the same time, the metabolic function of the cells declines and they become senescent cell.
(9) Senescent cells are thought to be the cause of disease and are often diagnosed as enlarged cancer cells.
(10) Potassium iodide, found in small amounts in natural salt and seafood, acts as an antioxidant like vitamins, slowing down cellular aging and boosting the immune system, thereby maintaining and promoting health.

This webinar will take into account the low-frequency energy generated by the brain's mitochondria (brainwaves, alpha (8-13 Hz), beta (13-30 Hz), delta (0.5-4 Hz), theta (4-7 Hz)) and let us discuss mental health management to prevent brain mitochondrial aging in the elderly, i.e. the decline in intelligence, concentration and memory.

Title: To focus on therapy distracts from healing - The secret paths towards healing

Plenary Speaker

Dr. Folker Meissner

Clinic for Holistic Medicine, German Academy for Energy Medi cine and Bioenergetics
Germany

Abstract

After having been ill for a while individuals tend to remain ill in the sense of taking on the identity of a patient. As the label “chronically ill” in general subconsciously carries the message “healing impossible”, the focus of both the patients and the therapists switches to therapy, mostly to long-term therapy, causing the patients’ beliefs “I’ll never be healthy again”. However, there are chances to stop even “chronical” impairments, yet one of the obstacles is the focus on therapy, which is distracting from healing.

In order to overcome limiting “unhealthy” beliefs, as therapists or medical coaches we need to help the patients find their root belief system which provided the fertile soil for the new imprint “healing impossible”. The secret paths towards healing are genetically provided, maybe epigenetically dimmed or totally switched off. Using a complex combination of the spectral analysis of the electric body field, MAGIC MEDICAL COACHING, test-based supplementation of missing nutrients, and – if necessary – natural medical treatment (using e. g. acupuncture, homeopathy, or phytotherapy) we succeed in revealing these pathways and see positive outcomes presenting themselves as permanent identity-shifts from »patient« to »happy person«. Even in many cases unexpected, the myth of »chronical equals healing impossible« can be destroyed.

Title: Arachidonic Acid is The Root Cause of Chronic Inflammatory Disease

Plenary Speaker

Dr. Kevin KF Ng

Former Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Miami, USA

Abstract

Arachidonic acid (AA), an omega-6 fatty acid, plays a critical role in inflammation and cellular function but contributes to chronic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA), cardiovascular disease (CVD), asthma, and neurodegenerative disorders when dysregulated. Stored in cell membranes, AA is released by phospholipase A2 during injury or infection and metabolized via COX, LOX, and cytochrome P450 pathways into pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, including prostaglandins, thromboxanes, leukotrienes, and lipoxins. These metabolites drive inflammation, platelet aggregation, and vascular dysfunction, fueling conditions like RA, where PGE2 and LTB4 worsen joint inflammation, and CVD, where thromboxanes promote atherosclerosis. In asthma, leukotrienes induce bronchoconstriction, while neuroinflammatory prostaglandins contribute to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. A Western diet high in omega-6 and low in omega-3 fatty acids exacerbates AA’s inflammatory effects, highlighting the need for a balanced omega-6/omega-3 ratio. Omega-3 fatty acids counteract AA by generating anti-inflammatory resolvins and protectins. Strategies to manage AA’s impact include increasing omega-3 intake, using COX and LOX inhibitors, and adopting lifestyle changes like exercise and stress reduction. Ongoing research seeks to selectively target harmful AA pathways while preserving its essential roles, offering potential for improved treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases.

Title: Introduction to Hormone Optimization Utilizing Homeopathic Remedies

Plenary Speaker

Dr. William Clearfield

Clearfield Medical Clinic
USA

Abstract

Hormones, chemicals produced in the body that carry messages from their organ of origin to specific cells, are designed to keep the body’s natural balance in check and carry out the instructions received.

Hormones are the “juice” of life.  Strength, energy, glucose utilization and metabolism, weight control, inflammation, skin tone, sexual energy, sexual desire, and even cellulite accumulation (or lack thereof) are influenced by our hormones.

It is no secret that major disruptions occur to both body and mind as we age.  The maturation process is often associated with deteriorating quality of life.

Fatigue, headaches, energy, loss of motivation, gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, or a combination of the two, poor sleep, weight gain, decreased sex drive, depressed mood, anxiety or irritability, loss of memory and concentration are symptoms of a body in decline.

Like the fluids in your car, hormones are the “juice of life.” Beginning around age 35, a natural 1-2% a year decline in sex hormone production occurs. Combining Mother Nature with iatrogenic interference with cholesterol production, vis a vis diet and medication (statins), results in a harsher decline in physical and mental well-being than need be.

This lecture is an evidence-based, updated version of our basic introduction to hormone optimization.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Why Study Hormones?
  2. Hormone Optimization as The Ultimate Anti-Aging Practice
  3. We’ve covered three Magnificent Primary Hormones: Testosterone, Estrogen, and Progesterone

Title: Stepping Out of the CAVE: How to Incorporate Color Awareness Vibration Exercise Therapy When Treating Patients with Musculoskeletal Conditions

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Lucas Bianco

Abstract

Interventions involving mindfulness have been used to manage pain, stress, anxiety, and general wellness. When incorporated into physical rehabilitation these interventions can positively affect outcomes for physical and mental health. Vibrational therapy has emerged as a viable option for orthopedic conditions. Color therapy has many dimensions that harness the power of color to benefit the patient. It is assumed that vibrations of color (presumably different frequencies/wavelengths of visible light) influence one's body and mind. Through my clinical practice I have begun to see the effectiveness of a new technique in treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Adding to therapeutic exercise in a way that includes more sensations and mindfulness can change the central nervous system and promote healing in patients. Using manual vibration therapy paired with perception color therapy is a perfect blend of modern cognitive therapy and more traditional medicines. The theories around chakras and acupressure points can be connected to how the manual therapies promote muscle activation through exercise. In a time when more and more providers are exploring the integrative medical solutions of Eastern Medicine this technique introduces a platform to step into mind-body, bioenergetics from the guise of manual therapy, color therapy and vibration tactile stimulation. Consider the mechanisms by which these techniques may be effective in patient populations gathering practical advice to start using this technique when you return to the clinic

Title: Pain Patients’ Perceptions of Selected Conventional, Alternative and Integrative Medical Treatments In Pain Management: A Qualitative Study

Speaker

Dr. Owen Ngozi Owunwanne

Akamai University
USA

Abstract

The present study is technically mixed but primarily qualitative. Content analysis was used to quantify the summary of the data in terms of counts and percentages of how many participants contributed to qualitative themes and the health survey is quantitative. The study was designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of facts that influence participant’s decisions and perceptions about the use of conventional, alternative, and integrative medicine for chronic pain. Users of three types of medical treatments are generally characterized as being above, normal, or below normal health compared by 1998 normal health standard by participants. The study’s participants were 17 people who experienced or were diagnosed with chronic pain using patients’ perception survey (SF-36). The questionnaire asked about their experience of chronic pain, treatment, and health outcomes and the way they perceived conventional, alternative, and integrative treatment.

Physicians were interviewed. From the physicians’ perspective, interviews suggested that integrative medicine is more open to the use of other medical treatments and modalities for chronic pain.  Although interviewees who practiced conventional and alternative medicine were somewhat open to other medical treatments and modalities, they were more restricted in their willingness to utilize treatment modalities different from their practice of medicine compared to integrative medicine. Participants were more aware

A Qualitative Study of why they chose alternative medicine but were less aware of why they chose integrative medicine even though they were satisfied with it.

The primary focus of this study was patient satisfaction and perceptions of conventional, alternative, and integrative medicine in the treatment of chronic pain: 8 showed satisfaction with alternative treatment only; 7 were satisfied with integrative treatment for chronic pain or some combination of modalities; 13 participants chose alternative methods because they perceived it as good for body or mentioned personal preferences and practicality. For most, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)seemed beneficial, holistic, and more natural healing. Some patients appeared unclear of the difference between integrative and alternative medicine. The study showed that patients preferred alternative, complementary, and integrative medicine to conventional medicine. Evidence suggests that patients’ choice of treatment are linked to the strong value they attach to their culture, religious beliefs, and confidence in their doctor.

        Additional research is recommended.

Title: Integrating TCM Network Pharmacology into Homeopathy: A Framework for Eval uating Ultradiluted Remedies through Case Studies of Nux vomica and Carduus mari anus

Speaker

Dr. Dal Pozzo Lisa

Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
China

Abstract

Homeopathic remedies, despite their ultradiluted nature, are hypothesized to retain information from their source materials, which may interact with biological targets to counteract pathological states. While further data are needed to validate this theory, this framework justifies using the bioactive compounds of the crude drug as a starting point to identify potential biological targets and pathways, aiding in experimental validation.
Two case studies illustrate this approach. The first investigates Nux vomica (NV) for gastritis, identifying possible core targets and linking them to pathways such as neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, calcium signaling, and MAPK signaling. The second examines Carduus marianus (CM) for hepatic inflammation, highlighting the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway as a critical mechanism.
By connecting the raw materials of homeopathic remedies to specific pathologies, these core targets provide a foundation for laboratory-based validation studies of homeopathic remedies. This integrative approach bridges traditional practices with modern research, advancing the systematic evaluation of homeopathic treatments.

Title: Un-earthing a novel approach to living better with arthritis

Keynote Speaker

Michael Bentley

President of SierraSil Health Inc.,
Canada

Abstract

Clay minerals have been used for healing since the beginning of recorded medicine. The "Fathers" of medicine and pharmacology wrote about them and around the world there are stories of the use of clay for healing. One of the more recent discoveries of healing clays was in Northern Nevada in the 1970s.

In the early 2000's this clay was patented and began to be marketed as SierraSil. It has a foundation of clinical research highlighting safety and efficacy that may push the boundaries of the conventional trade-off of efficacy versus safety for certain inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis.

Of course, the most integrative way to address arthritis and other inflammatory conditions is with lifestyle and dietary measures. But often these are not enough and practitioners and patients turn to natural health supplements, sometimes with unreliable results. This is because every body is different, there is variability with natural products and to date, the most recommended natural products need patience for patients to feel results.

Also often overlooked is that the "joint health" supplement category is best bifurcated as joint builders and inflammation calmers. Research shows that the SierraSil minerals offer new and perhaps more reliable hope that the inflammation can be calmed, enabling the joint builders, such as glucosamine and collagen to be more effective in their role.

Biography

Michael Bentley is President of SierraSil Health Inc. a natural health products company with a proprietary mineral patented as a Nutritional Supplement for Osteoarthritis. In 2022 Michael was elected a Director of the Canadian Health and Fitness Institute and as a Director of the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA). USA

Abstract

Peptides are signaling molecules that promote cellular repair, regeneration, and longevity. In Functional Medicine, peptides are increasingly recognized for enhancing cellular communication and influencing processes such as inflammation, metabolism, and tissue regeneration. Bioenergetics, which focuses on energy flow within biological systems, complements peptide therapy by improving cellular energy production and balancing the body's natural energy fields.

This presentation explores the intersection of peptides and bioenergetics in optimizing cellular health. By integrating peptide protocols with bioenergetic assessments and therapies, Functional Medicine practitioners can enhance the body’s ability to heal and rejuvenate at the cellular level. Emerging research highlights the potential for this combination to address aging, chronic diseases, and energy deficiencies more effectively than either approach used in isolation.

In addition to individual cellular benefits, this synergy can be leveraged to support systemic health improvements, such as boosting immune resilience, enhancing detoxification processes, and improving mental clarity and cognitive function. The bioenergetic field’s role in harmonizing the body’s energetic frequencies, coupled with the regenerative power of peptides, holds promise for slowing down the aging process and mitigating the impacts of environmental stressors. This combination opens new frontiers for addressing complex, multifactorial health issues holistically and integratively.

We will delve into case studies and the latest findings on how the synergy of peptides and bioenergetics can support optimal health and vitality. Abstract

In the west, due to the influence of Rene Decartes, who separated the notion of body and spirit of a human being in the 17th century, the modern medicine has put much weight on internal organs treatments.

On the contrary, the traditional medicine has put much weight on holistic treatments. Therefore, if we could integrate those traditional modern and emerging medicine, we can have the ideal medical treatments.  In these days, the study of the traditional medicine in the advanced countries have been promoted and expedited.  The traditional medicine has been reviving in those advanced countries.

In Asia, such as Kampo medicine in Japan, Chinese traditional medicine, Ayurveda in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and medicine in Mongolia and Tibet have put much weight on holistic treatments and have been respecting the benefits of the nature.

In the modern medicine, the transfusion of blood and transplant of human tissue have been practiced. However some patients oppose such operation, which gives negative effects on body and spirit. One of the solutions to avoid such situation may be to integrate traditional and emerging medicine.

Yunani medicine was originated from Egyptian and Greek medicine, which is today adopted in Western modern medicine. Yunani combined with herb treatment and physiotherapy such as massage is popular.
The Chinese herb, acupuncture, and meditation have been developed in Japan as Kampo, acupuncture and Zen meditation.
The traditional holistic treatments are useful for mental diseases.  Such treatments include Japanese Zen meditation, sitting cross-legged Yoga, Chinese shadow boxing, and herb.
The study and integration of traditional and emerging medicine is the key to the future of the medical world.

Abstract

The ancient Greek writer and philosopher Plutarch was a firm believer in fasting. “Fast today instead of taking medicine” he said, Plato and his student Aristotle expressed similar views.  In recent years, chronic age-related diseases have increased all over the world.
Modern research and molecular biology have been able to scientifically prove the effects of fasting.   Metabolic disorders, such as Type II Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer are among such diseases that have increased in prevalence in the population.  Intermittent fasting has gained traction as preventative and therapeutic measure to prevent metabolic disease. The current research published in the New England Journal of Medicine revealed data about a range of health benefits associated with the practice. Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that may benefit heart health, reduce inflammation, improve cell repair processes, control insulin sensitivity, and become an effective therapy for age related diseases.

Title: Role of Nabhi-poorana in Hypertensive disorders-A Case Report

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Shivani Gavande

Principal at Late Kedari Redekar Ayurvedic Medical College, Gadhinglaj, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India

Abstract

Hypertension is very common disease in sedentary lifestyle now a day. Many modern and Ayurvedic medicines are in practice. In Ayurveda application of oil in naval region is called as Nabhipoorana. It is a part of oleation therapy. Naval region plays important role in intrauterine life. But its importance after birth is ignored by us. In Ayurveda, the Nabhi (navel) is considered a vital centre of the body, located between the Amashaya (stomach) and Pakvashaya (intestines). It is classified as a Marma (vital spot) and one of the fifteen Koshthangas (visceral components). Ancient texts describe it as the origin of Sira (veins) and Dhamani (arteries), a dominant site of Pitta Dosha and an abode of Prana (vital energy). Nabhi plays a crucial role in nutrient distribution and is regarded as the centre of all organs by Ayurveda scholars.

Hypertension is often called a silent killer because many individuals remain undiagnosed until it is detected incidentally. In Ayurveda, it is understood as a disorder involving vitiated Doshas, primarily Vata and Pitta, which disrupt their normal movement within the Srotas (body channels). The concept of Avarana (occlusion of normal Dosha function) provides insight into the disease mechanism, helping in a more effective Ayurvedic approach to treatment.

Title: advances in systemic acupuncture for disorders associated with mental health conditions.

Keynote Speaker

Jorge Antonio Silva Aguilar

Abstract

Systemic acupuncture has emerged as an effective therapeutic strategy for treating various mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the central nervous system through the stimulation of specific points on the body, inducing the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins. Additionally, recent studies have demonstrated that acupuncture promotes neuroplasticity by stimulating cell proliferation in the hippocampus and enhancing neuronal connectivity in regions associated with emotional regulation.

Scientific evidence from clinical trials and meta-analyses has validated its effectiveness, comparing it favorably with conventional treatments such as antidepressants and cognitive behavioral therapy. Advances in neuroimaging have enabled the observation of structural and functional changes in the brain following acupuncture sessions, supporting its impact on the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and neuroendocrine homeostasis.

Despite these advances, it is crucial to continue exploring standardized clinical protocols and large-scale studies to strengthen the scientific foundation of acupuncture in the field of mental health. The integration of this technique with modern biomedical approaches could represent a more holistic and personalized treatment model for mental disorders in the future.

Title: Time-Proven Effectiveness of Homeopathy When Used Prophylactically

Plenary Speaker

Dr. Cathy May Lemmon

Founder, Homeoprophylaxis: A Worldwide Choice for Disease Prevention
USA

Abstract

Nontoxic and highly effective Homeopathic medicine has been in use for more than 200 years. Its prophylactic effectiveness very interestingly began at the same time that Jenner discovered the idea of “vaccination” for smallpox – and, quite unlike conventional vaccination, it has been studied and utilized nonstop ever since, helping prevent disease outbreaks of many kinds. Homeopathy works on the principle of “Like cures Like” – but the principle of “Like Prevents Like” encapsulates so much more. Things that can cause certain symptoms can also be used not only to cure similar symptoms, but also to prevent these. Whereas vaccination follows the idea of exposing the body to either a weakened pathogen associated with the cause of a disease so that an idea of “immunity” may result, homeopathic medicines work on the principle that the body has susceptibilities and works to lessen these by strengthening the inner self – the “vital force”, which is a unique process. There is much, within the homeopathic outlook and practise, that has remained steadfast and unchanged for more than two centuries. Homeopathy is a medicine built on ancient principles. A knowledge of how things have been studied and considered homeopathically through history is essential to understanding what to look at and observe to confirm the effectiveness of energetic homeopathic medicine. This is not a medicine that conventional science can confirm. Statistics, numbers, and visible evidence do. In 1799, when the founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, confirmed that homeopathic medicines worked prophylactically, he expressed conclusively the phrase we have all heard, “prevention is better than cure” and that this God-given discovery is one that must benefit all mankind. Because we are at a time that mankind is firmly embracing traditional medicines, now is absolutely the time for all healthcare practitioners to be well-versed and ready to utilize homeopathic medicines prophylactically.

Biography

Dr. Cathy May (Catherine G.) Lemmon has been trained in homeopathy through schools in the US, the UK, and Europe. She is the founder of Homeoprophylaxis: A Worldwide Choice for Disease Prevention (HPWWC), through which she has put together conferences that have taken place in the US, Europe, and India. She lectures and teaches about homeopathy as well as homeoprophylaxis throughout the US and abroad. She has presented many times for the International Forum for Promoting Homeopathy (IFPH), the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths (ARH), and many other international organizations. She has had articles published in Homeopathic Links, HPathy, Dynamis (Holland), and Surya (Germany). Her book, The Prophylactic Use of Homeopathic Medicine, is available through Emryss.

Prof. Tianjun Wang

Title: Understanding the Mechanism of Scalp Acupuncture from the Perspective of Brain-Computer Interface

Keynote Speaker

Prof. Tianjun Wang

London Academy of Chinese Acupuncture
UK

Abstract

Purpose
To search the mechanism of scalp acupuncture with the connection of brain-computer interface

Method
Review the academic research of brain-computer interface and scalp acupuncture.

Results
Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a milestone achievement in the development of human science and medicine. Non-invasive BCI does not require surgery and is the least traumatic to the human body which places signal collection electrodes on the outside of the scalp, has the characteristics of fewer ethical challenges and relative safety. Because the central nervous system has plasticity, repetitive feedback stimulation can enhance the connection between neuronal synapses and achieve repair. Through BCI can judge the possibility of patient recovery and adopt targeted treatment measures. Neurostimulation equipment is an important part of brain-computer interface hardware.

There are many hypotheses on the mechanism of scalp acupuncture, including neurostimulation and electrophysiology. After scalp acupuncture stimulation, motor evoked potentials are more likely to be induced in the motor area of the cerebral cortex, but they can only be detected after a certain amount of stimulation.

Conclusions
The theory and technology of non-invasive BCI can provide a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of the mechanism of scalp acupuncture, which deserves the attention of research and clinical application of acupuncture and is also easy to be understood and accepted by the public.

Key words
Scalp Acupuncture, Mechanism, Brain Plasticity, Brain-computer interface, Semi-invasive BCI, EEG

Title: An Introduction to Alchemical Facial Acupuncture: “Sparking the Shen”

Keynote Speaker

Mary Elizabeth Wakefield and MichelAngelo

Chi-Akra Center for Ageless Aging
USA

Abstract

Description:

Facial acupuncture offers to the prospective patient and practitioner a practical approach to the treatment of the visible signs of aging.  In its engagement with the psycho-emotional landscape of the face, it also presents the potential for patients to experience a profound transformation, not only of their faces, but in their lives.

The re-vitalization of the face through facial acupuncture treatments provides the practitioner with unmistakable outward evidence of changes occurring within our patients.  The face, the most emotive part of the body, provides eloquent testimony as to the benefits of healthy aging.

The purpose of alchemy, one of the most venerable spiritual technologies, is to liberate the spirit from matter; in Taoist alchemical practices, the practitioner seeks to promote longevity, even immortality.  In the context of what we can refer to as “facial” alchemy, facial and constitutional needling liberates Shen spirit from within the body, which manifests as increased radiance in the face.  The face thereby provides a “window” into the alchemical retort, allowing us to witness the transformative process as it takes place.  We refer to this process as “sparking” the Shen.
